The Company
Sigra is an Australian owned company formed in 1990. Based in Penrith in the west of Sydney, we specialise in the supply of components and engineering services to the Australian rail industry.
Originally starting in Batt Street, Penrith in a small factory unit, Sigra began its journey as an electronics manufacturer specialising in the manufacture and installation of safety light curtains for industrial applications. The founder’s training in control systems engineering, coupled with a keen interest in motor sport, resulted in a small motorcycle shock absorber repair workshop that was started not long after offering a repair service for racers and enthusiasts alike. With the addition of a purpose built CAC shock absorber dyno, this quickly grew into a nationwide service and eventually led to a similar service being provided to the Australian rail industry.
Since 1995, Sigra’s damper overhaul and repair service has provided rail operators in Australia with a high quality, cost effective and time saving option when it comes to their suspension systems. Since then we have expanded our operations into all areas of rollingstock components and now offer a broad range of parts and services from braking systems to draw gear.
Sigra has continued to grow rapidly and in 2000 relocated to a purpose built 1200m2 facility at Jack Williams Drive, Penrith where we remain today. Our product range is always expanding as we find new ways to provide value and cost savings to our customers.
In 2020 we celebrated 30 years in business and in 2021 we moved our operations into a new facility (right next door!), increasing our floor space to more than 2200m2. This has allowed us to further enhance our warehousing and workshop facilities, enables Sigra to expand our service and spare parts offerings and supports our continued growth into the future.
